Giving your kitten wet kitten food is a great way to transition from formula or mother’s milk to more solid foods. It’s easy to eat, provides plenty of moisture for their growing body, and is delicious and nutritious.

To make this process as easy and safe as possible, talk to your vet about how and when(open in new tab) to start your kitten on wet foods. 

Kittens are very similar to puppies in that they need to eat small meals more often throughout the day. When your kitten is first switching to wet food, try feeding them four to seven times per day. 

During this time, it helps to keep a feeding schedule (including how much and how often you feed them) so you can ensure they’re getting plenty of protein, vitamins, and minerals to support their growth. 

As they grow, they’ll be able to handle larger amounts of food at each feeding and will eventually settle on two meals each day (usually around six months old).

But, in general, kittens need about 250-280 calories per day. Adult cats, on the other hand, need only about 200 calories per day as they start to enjoy the more laidback lifestyle of an older cat.
